Asslam-O-Alaikum And Welcome To Shehzad's Website

Update on 31 October 2005

I  have designed a Urdu Phonetic Keyboard layout for Windows Xp/2000 which you can use to type in Windows using the phonetic layout. It will allow you to type as you do in other Urdu programs with Alef being on the Key A and Bey on B etc. To download the file please go to this page.
Installing Urdu Phonetic Layout Keyboard for Windows 2000/XP
This time around I have created an installation file so you don't need to bother with the hassle of batch files. Let's make life simpler :)

  Shehzad Ashiq Ali

My name is Shehzad Ashiq Ali and I live in England. I studied for my Bsc Applied Computing Degree at Middlesex University (Middlesex Rocks :) ).
I was born in England way, way back in 1980. Since then of course I've changed and so has time. Life as a youngster was pretty easy for me, I didn't have to bother about anything. All life meant to me then was to have a good time. As I grew up though I realised that life is very diverse and erm perhaps something else as well.I should be something else as well I suppose but I don't know what to say so let's just forget about it shall we.
Oh! Heck you know the usual stuff. Life turned out to be a real challenge and all that plus lots more. Anyway life's been kind to me so far I've got nearly everything I ever wished for well except for maybe becoming a billionaire, becoming a Haafiz, flying an aeroplane, or getting rid of all the corrupt politicians on Earth (Certainly no Pakistani politicians would be left then!). To be more up to date let's I would also like to get rid of corrupt, lying General's (Yes, you Mushy boy are a shame to us!!!).
I last visited Pakistan for a lengthy period in 1995 (Note I said "Lengthy" period. I have been to Pakistan after that but not for long!!! Now that should clarify it for some people ;)). I enjoyed myself round there. Lots more then I do round here which isn't a lot mind you. I met all my family, made lots of friends, went to Shaadis, did what nearly everybody else was doing (which was pretty much nothing) and discovered a passion for our own Pakistani Pop (A Famous Abbajee along with his obedient son quips: "Corrupt") music. I must confess though that I wasn't too eager to go to Pakistan initially and only went to Pakistan grudgingly. Yet living in Pakistan proved to be an eye-opener for me. Living in Pakistan made me realise that living there was the ideal life, in a place where a community really meant what it was meant to be. Closely knit and well-integrated. By the way did I mention that I disliked the constant bickering and nosiness of some people over their as well (They know who they are). So I'll just revise my opinion to say it's a better place then England to live in but some aspects of it really suck, pretty much just like any society I suppose.

Here's a picture of me when I was Young

My Interest's

I used to like listening to Music before but I guess I have become a nerd now so all I do is work on my computer or play games (UT springs to mind) in my spare time. Guess that's not very interesting then is it.
I also read books, mainly fiction since there's nothing I personally like more then a good story. I also play cricket, chess, and lots of programming in my spare time (When I get it). Hmm, that doesn't make me sound very rounded does it? But who cares this is not meant to be a CV it's a website where I can harp on till tomorrow. It's my website and I'll rant if I want to but it's up to you if you want to read it :)

Junoon's Album's Covers (Junoon, Talaash, Inquilaab, Kashmakash Sorry I couldn't scan Azaadi's cover) "I've put this in Because I made it myself not because I like Junoon, it would be a shame having to abandon this picture"
Junoon
These are the covers of Junoon's first four Albums.

Out of all the bands I listen to, I used to love listening to Junoon the most, since it was my favourite band. Not Anymore though after they sold out and made fools of themselves constantly to please the Indian market. I don't like them and I think they suck. If you have any complaints about that you can keep your complaints to yourself because frankly I wouldn't bother discussing them as its a waste of breath (complaints to my normal e-mail address!!)
To sum it up, Pre - Kashmakash Junoon Rocked and post Kashmakash Junoon sucked. "Talaash" is still one of the best ever Pakistani pop songs ever.

Vital Signs Second Album: Vital Signs
Vital Signs
This is the cover of their brilliant 2nd Album, Vital Signs.

Vital Signs were the group who started the current local pop scene way back in 1987. Dil Dil Pakistan was their first song which was a massive hit selling approximately 2 million copies (Official Sales and unfortunately Pirate as well) and established itself as a milestone in Pakistan's music history.
These aren't the only bands I like though. I love nearly anything that is produced by the Pop Scene in Pakistan (I do have my own taste standard though). I think the Pakistani Pop scene has lots of potential and if it keeps on producing material like it is now, then there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to become as internationally successful as India's musicians. In 2001, I see it fit to revise my opinion and say that the majority of stuff coming out of Pakistan is pure rubbish now so I think their is little hope of any chance of international fame.
Junoon is an exception, they're already famous world-wide but at at a price, which is their pride, authority and sanity. Sorry but they suck.
I also like listening to other music from around the world. So what if I can't understand a word of it. It needs to sound good :) Vasilis Papakonstantinou is one of the best musicians I have ever heard and he is a class above most of our local artists. Mind you some of our people might say bad things about his voice but it takes a person with good taste to know they are seeing something exceptional :) Ok enough about music for now then.
I am an avid computer user and usually rip my computer apart when I get bored with it. I also like programming in C++, Java, Visual Basic, and messing about with HTML/XML. I thought I'd just put that in to increase your general knowledge :)
One of my major interests is in Urdu development for the PC. I have spent a lot of time on it but as of late I have been unable to do so :( Insha-Allah I will have the chance in the future.
I have created web pages in Urdu using the font Urdu Naqsh created by Ali Shah Hussain. As a sample of my efforts read the Pakistani National Anthem or read the Punjabi Folk Song Chitta Kukkar Bunerre Te.

Thanks To
